Invisalign
in Frisco, TX

Invisalign is a perfect solution for those who want to straighten their teeth without having to deal with the visible wires and discomfort that often comes with traditional metal braces.

What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a technology featuring clear, flexible plastic trays that can help to correct overbite, underbite, spacing between teeth, and misaligned teeth. What is great about Invisalign is that the trays are removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you want. All you have to do is take them out beforehand. Then, brush and floss before placing the trays back on. It’s that simple!

What is the process?
First, we schedule a consultation to see if you are a candidate. After this evaluation, we can then proceed to take impressions and photos. These will be sent immediately to the Invisalign lab, where your trays will be fabricated by precise, 3-D digital mapping technology.

Dr. Kengskool maintains close communication with the orthodontists at the Invisalign lab through the entire process. This is to ensure that we curate the best and most efficient course of treatment.

Once your trays arrive in the office, we can then schedule your appointment to place attachments and get your first set of aligners.

At home, you will wear each tray for 22 hours a day and change out each tray every 2 weeks. Follow-up visits every few weeks are needed to make sure your teeth are moving correctly. Treatment time can range from 6 to 24 months but this may vary, as every patient is unique.

What ages is Invisalign suitable for?
Patients seven years and older are generally eligible to receive treatment through Invisalign clear aligner therapy. However, Invisalign requires extra responsibility that traditional braces do not. If a patient is not mature enough to keep track of their aligners and wear them frequently enough, we may recommend that they wait a few years to help ensure that their orthodontic treatment plan stays on track. If you or your child are interested in Invisalign, please schedule a consultation with our Invisalign dentist Dr. Kengskool, and we will be happy to help you determine if Invisalign is the right fit.

Is Invisalign painful?
Clear aligner therapy is generally less painful compared to traditional braces. While you may experience some initial discomfort or pressure when wearing a new set of aligners, it typically subsides within a few days as your teeth adjust. If you experience significant pain, we recommend getting in touch with our team so we can advise and make adjustments if necessary. Applying dental wax to particularly sore areas and taking over-the-counter pain medication can be helpful during this adjustment period as well.

What’s the best way to clean my Invisalign aligners?
The best way to clean your Invisalign aligners is by gently brushing them with a soft toothbrush and mild antibacterial soap or Invisalign cleaning crystals. Rinse them thoroughly with lukewarm water before putting them back on. Avoid using hot water, as it can warp the aligners. Additionally, it’s important to brush your teeth or at least rinse your mouth out before reinserting your aligners to maintain good oral hygiene. Keeping your aligners as clean as possible is important for your oral health and for keeping your aligners clear and discreet.

What do I do if my aligners break?
If your aligners break, please get in touch with our Frisco dental office as soon as you can. If the break is minor and doesn’t affect the fit or function of your aligners, you may continue wearing them until you can get an appointment with our team. However, if the break is significant or causes discomfort, we may recommend temporarily reverting to the previous set of aligners until the issue is resolved. We never want our patients to go without wearing their aligners for too long, as their teeth can begin shifting back to their original positions.
