When should routine exams and cleanings be scheduled?

We advise patients to visit our office at least twice per year for routine dental cleanings and exams. If you have periodontal disease, a history of periodontitis, or your gingivitis is on the verge of developing into periodontal disease, we may recommend that you visit our office for additional cleanings and checkups. Likewise, if you want to schedule additional treatments or a dental emergency arises, you may end up visiting our office more than twice per year to keep your smile looking and feeling great!

Will professional teeth cleanings whiten my teeth?

Professional dental cleanings are great for reducing your chances of developing tooth decay and gum disease, but unfortunately, they will not make your teeth appear noticeably whiter. Teeth cleanings help to remove plaque and tartar that has collected in hard-to-brush areas, like in between teeth and just above the gum line. The high-powered brush and special gritty toothpaste that we use can help to lift some surface-level stains that are caused by coffee, tea, and red wine, but our professional teeth whitening services are what will help your smile sparkle!

Are dental exams and teeth cleanings covered by insurance?

Most insurance plans offer coverage for routine dental visits, so if you have dental insurance, we recommend taking advantage of your benefits and scheduling routine appointments with our team. Our in-house membership plan also covers two routine visits for children and adults, and our perio plan includes three periodontal cleanings and checkups per year.
